This Andre Harrell news sucks. His legacy to me will always be that of a visionary who saw all the magic that could come from the worlds of r&b and hip hop colliding with groundbreaking acts like Guy, Mary J Blige and Jodeci. RIP to a giant.
RIP Andre Harrell. Whether we knew it or not, he had such a huge influence on the R&B/hip-hop my generation grew up loving. He signed and mentored so many great artists, made so much great music happen, helped shape the culture
#AndreHarrell 59 years old, one of the cornerstones of HIP-HOP, from being an artist as #DrJekkylAndMrHyde to Def Jam to Uptown Records where he literally birthed GHETTO FABULOUS, HipHop Soul, MJB & unleashed Puff into the world, this is my era, I’m not ok with this! R.I.P. Icon

Andre Harrell passing on Chris Lighty’s birthday is going to hit a lot of people very hard. Wishing everyone as much love and peace as they can summon right now.
Andre Harrell and Little Richard in the same day. Two titans in the music industry. Such huge losses.
If there’s any lesson in today, it’s that we have to continue to celebrate and pour love into our Black legends.
Andre Harrell was the first person I saw in my vocal audition for making the band. He said to me that voice, tone, is different, it’s special. He and Laurie Ann believed in my art. i will never forget that. RIP Andre. And Thank You for the open door
I am crushed to hear of the passing of my longtime friend Andre Harrell a great record man and a classy guy. He was the epitome of ghetto fabulous—gotta be classy and yet funky and soulful at the same time. He loved culture, music, Blackness, and leading people with dignity.
i saw a lot of “we didn’t give him his flowers” about andre harrell. but whew, nobody wanted his deserved flowers more than little richard. and he somehow got plenty of them, but not enough.

BET was producing a mini-series based on Uptown Records as told by Andre Harrell. I’m not sure what stage of production they were in pre-COVID, but it is my hope that we still get that series.

It’s hard to describe how big an imprint Andre Harrell had on music. From his own rap career to his days at Def Jam to Uptown to Motown to Revolt… From Mary J. Blige to Diddy to Heavy D to Jodeci… Andre Harrell was a pioneer and a legend.
Puff has lost: Biggie, Wolf, Heavy D, the mother of his children, and now his mentor and business partner André Harrell. Wow!
The thought of Andre Harrell not having a proper homegoing celebration because of this pandemic has me sick. Prayers to all of his family, friends and loved ones.
Andre Harrell passing at 59 really hurts. I have been really looking forward to that biopic because the Uptown era deserves. He gave us so much. God rest his soul and be with his family. And thank you, Andre.
