CRIME : (MARKET NEWS) : Burger Chef Murders : The Unsolved Burger Chef Murders in Johnson county.
At 11 p.m. on Nov. 17, 1978, four young people were closing for the day Burger Chef café at 5725 Crawfordsville Road in Speedway.
Jayne Friedt, 20, was the associate supervisor on duty that night. Other employees were Ruth Shelton, 17; Daniel Davis, 16; and Mark Flemmonds, 16. They were booked to remain two or three hours past their shift to clean down and prepare things for the morning shift.

The Burger Chef chain doesn’t exist any longer, however at the time was an Indianapolis-based organization with around 600 eateries across the nation. In the mid 1980s, it was absorbed by Hardee’s.

Around 12 PM, one of them opened the back door to take out the trash. What occurred next isn’t completely known, however none of the children made it home that night.
Their bodies were discovered two days in a bumpy, wooded area in Johnson County close to Center Grove High School. That was around a 40-minute drive from the eatery where they’d been snatched.
