Saddened to hear of the passing of Russell Brookes, undoubtedly one of motorsport’s good guys, and an immense talent with it. The image of Brookes at the wheel of a Heat for Hire liveried Manta is one of the defining images of British rallying. He’ll be much missed. R.I.P. #TGC pic.twitter.com/IRDx16d0Ci

My first holiday job in motorsport was being a gofer for the Andrews Heat for Hire team with Russell Brookes and Mark Lovell. Sierra Cosworths, 1989 in Co Tipperary I was 16…we ‘closed’ the road and tested all day, but I drove the rally car back to the hotel. 😲Different times.

Sad to hear of the passing of Russell Brookes. Russell competed in the Otago Classic Rally in 2001 and was the first European driver to do so and as such paved the way for many others to follow in subsequent years. He was a delightful guest and a true gentleman.
Russell Brookes Death, Obituary : Very sad to hear of the passing of Russell Brookes. Another of the Rally drivers of my formative years.
