Shootings Reported at Broad Av / Robinson in Binghamton New York

The Binghamton Police Department in New York is investigating a shooting incident that occurred yesterday May 1st at Broad Av/Robinson. The department released the following statements.

Eastside; Evening Shooting Incident Currently Under Investigation

On May 01st 2019 at about 8:00 p.m. the Binghamton Police Department Patrol Division responded to the area of Broad Avenue between Court Street and Robinson Street for a reported shooting incident. The police investigation of the matter determined a mobile shooting incident occurred on Broad Avenue in the block between Court and Robinson Streets. The incident involved gunfire from at least one of the moving vehicles which was directed towards another moving vehicle / occupants of the
other involved vehicle. Both vehicles were traveling northbound on Broad Avenue from Court Street at the time of the shooting.

The investigation determined that multiple gunshots were fired from at least one vehicle involved and it appears that one vehicle involved was chasing the other, both vehicles fled the area at a high rate of speed subsequent to the shots being fired as the event developed and proceeded northbound on Broad Avenue to Robinson Street. The vehicles involved were described as follows; a dark colored Toyota Camry and a silver or gray colored Hyundai or Honda Sedan, both were occupied by males of
unknown race, no further description is available at this time. Involved persons / vehicle occupants remain unidentified and are considered uncooperative with the police investigation at this time. No reported injuries from involved persons or other persons in the area were reported.

The initial investigation was handled by Binghamton Police Patrol and Detective Divisions, the BPD Identification Unit processed the crime scene. Video processing of commercial and residential video systems are being recovered and reviewed by Detectives as part of the investigation. No arrests have been made, the investigation is ongoing at this time.
