My former boss Ellen Tauscher was funny, fearless & fabulous. She taught me a lot – stay one step ahead, alliteration is awesome, never show fear, put your loved ones and your conscience first. Her legacy on equal rights and nuclear nonproliferation lives on. God bless you, EOT.

Ellen Tauscher was a good friend and an incredible public servant, someone who represented her district well for many years and served honorably in the State Department under Pres. Obama. I was honored to work with her. She will be greatly missed by our state and our nation.

I am heartbroken. My friend #EllenTauscher @ellenotauscher has passed away. I don’t know where to start on how this woman has enriched my life from the moment I met her in Al and Tipper Gore’s living room when she was a just elected Democratic freshman member of the House in 1997. She walked in wearing the most un-washington-like outfit of Chanel leather pants and a vest and it was instant fast friends. She had already helped our friend Dianne Feinstein get to the Senate by then. We shared a New Jersey history, a love of policy and a fierce devotion to girlfriends. When my baby was in the hospital 2 months after she was born it was Ellen who came and sat with me all night. Since then I’ve never made a major decision without seeking her counsel. And I am not alone. She was a friend and mentor to hundreds of women and a role model for thousands more. No one could match her wit for the perfect put down of a blathering republican man. And yet she knew how to work across the aisle, get results and advance every ball she grabbed. Her heart never left public service and she remained devoted to advancing Democrats long after she left office. I just can’t imagine another one like her anytime soon. My heart goes out to her amazing daughter Katherine who has been by Ellen’s side during this last wretched illness. RIP my friend. You are one of a kind beloved. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
