I was discovered by a master filmmaker by the name of John Singleton. He not only made me a movie star but made me a filmmaker. There are no words to express how sad I am to lose my brother, friend & mentor. He loved bring the black experience to the world. ..Us at Cannes ‘90 pic.twitter.com/CaRKjZtjgB

RIP, John Singleton…I cant believe it, grew up watching and learning from your movies, sir…what a loss
Worry less Ice, its all cool with him wherever he goes. Its our way
Need that #Treaty
BitH blew my ignorant mind. Doughboys last words imprinted in my brain. “They either don’t know, don’t show or don’t care what’s going on in the hood”
RIPOWER… his eye for frames & POVs & narrative authenticity of the stories he told said to the world THESE VOICES & STORIES MATTER✍✊?? ??
So crushing… Been figuring out how to make sense of this. I just can’t. Will really miss his light in the world… ?
John Singleton was the blueprint. I remember watching it in the theater on a family trip to Reno. Reno was poppin back then. I was definitely more of a Tre than a Doughboy but anybody could see themselves in one of John’s characters. He left a solid catalog. He’ll be missed. RIP
Rest in peace
