People are paying tributes to on social media, here are some of the tributes posted online.
Mourning the loss of my friend #gwenmarston – we only met in person 2 or 3 times out on the west coast and I never made it to #beaverisland to visit her In her studio (which by photos and descriptions I have envisioned as idyllic) – I found out she was sick last year when I emailed her after the feature on her in #Quiltfolk when they covered Michigan. We have had a few emails since then – and last month was the last – I knew things weren’t good – but still you always hope things will get better right? So much inspiration in her work helps bring some comfort to the many tears of today. ? ? #quiltersofinstagram #quiltinspiration #modernquilter #quilting #modernquiltpioneer #liberatedquiltmaking #improvquilting
I am heartbroken to learn that Gwen Marston has passed. What a gift to the world of quilting (and the world in general, by all accounts) she was. Such an inspiration. My thoughts are with her family and friends today. ?
